Domestic Instrument Innovation Forum Debuts at BCEIA 2025

On the afternoon of September 11, 2025, the "Domestic Instruments and Analytical Testing Innovation & Development Forum" took place in Beijing. It was a key parallel event of BCEIA 2025. Instrument Information Network hosted the forum. The China Association for Instrumental Analysis helped organize it. The Testing Branch of the China Certification and Accreditation Association gave strong support. At the forum, participants talked in depth about two main topics. One was technological breakthroughs of domestic instruments. The other was how to build application ecosystems.

Many people joined the forum. They came from different areas. These areas included the government, industry associations, analytical testing platforms, universities, research institutes and domestic instrument companies. They focused on key issues. For example: How can domestic instruments make tech breakthroughs? How to build certification systems? How to develop application ecosystems? How to go global? They talked a lot. They also gave ideas together. Their goal was to build a new ecosystem for domestic analytical testing. This ecosystem would be open, collaborative and win-win. This effort laid a solid foundation for the ecosystem’s future development.
Wu Ziwei hosted the forum. He is the Director of the Industry Research Center of Instrument Information Network.

High-end domestic scientific instruments are very important. They help China achieve self-reliance in science and technology. Right now, China depends a lot on imported scientific instruments. For large-scale scientific instruments, 70% are imported. For analytical instruments, over 90% are imported. This situation puts China at great risk. The risk is "being stuck at key links".

Domestic instruments have a big problem: "weak intermediate industrial links". To solve this problem, Beijing has released a plan. The plan is called High-end Scientific Instrument Innovation and Development Action Plan (2025-2027). The plan has clear goals. First, it will use real feedback from users. This feedback will make instruments work better. It will also make instruments more recognized by the market. Second, it will speed up the wide use of high-end domestic instruments. These instruments will be used in scientific research, medical care and enterprise R&D. Third, it will help Beijing become a center for high-end scientific instrument technology. It will also help Beijing build an industrial cluster for such instruments. In the end, this plan will support China’s self-reliance in science and technology.

In 2023, China’s scientific instrument market grew a lot. Its scale reached over 220 billion yuan. This was up 12% from the year before. Now, there is policy support. With this support, domestic instruments are replacing imported ones faster. This is especially true in the high-end instrument field. In this field, the replacement rate keeps rising steadily.
